Description

Lineo Solutions, Inc. is seeking skilled and motivated Embedded Linux Software Engineers to join its Technical Solutions Team in Japan.

Established in 1984, Lineo has extensive experience in embedded Linux solutions and provides software products, development services and technical support to leading Japanese manufacturers in the automotive, industrial equipment and healthcare sectors.

The company specialises in low-level technologies such as the Linux kernel, device drivers, CPU architecture and Yocto. Engineers will have the opportunity to work on advanced development projects directly connected to commercial products.

Lineo is also recognised as an NXP Gold Partner and actively contributes to open-source and Yocto-related technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support customer projects involving embedded software development.
  • Investigate, reproduce and debug complex low-level hardware and software issues.
  • Develop expertise in the Linux kernel, CPU architecture, security, device drivers and performance optimisation.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customers and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Prepare technical proposals to support customer decision-making.
  • Work closely with project members to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Proactively identify and communicate technical issues and project risks.
  • Ensure the quality of all project deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience developing embedded systems using Linux or an RTOS.
  • Strong programming experience in C.
  • Experience writing device-driver and interrupt-handler code for SoCs and peripheral devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot low-level software issues and differentiate between hardware-related and software-related problems.
  • Proficiency in using Git through the command line.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with developers, managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience contributing bug fixes or new features to open-source projects.
  • Experience porting device drivers between different Linux kernel versions.
  • Interest in learning the Japanese language and understanding Japanese culture.

Salary and Employment Conditions

  • Annual salary: ¥4.495 million–¥6.235 million.
  • The salary includes bonuses paid twice a year, in June and December.
  • Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate’s age, skills, experience and professional capabilities.
  • Working hours: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM.
  • Lunch break: 12:00 PM–1:00 PM.
  • Annual holidays: 124 days.
