Hayakawa celebrated Kodomo no Hi with a meaningful and culturally enriching Senryu Workshop at the Hayakawa campus. The event brought together Japanese language learning, cultural appreciation, creativity, and student participation in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Kodomo no Hi, or Children’s Day in Japan, is a traditional celebration that honours the happiness, growth, and well-being of children. To mark this special occasion, Hayakawa organised a Senryu Workshop for students, giving them an opportunity to understand and experience a beautiful form of Japanese short poetry.
The event was honoured by the presence of Ms. Furuichi Reiko, Researcher / Adviser, Culture and Information, Consulate-General of Japan, Chennai, who presided over the celebration as the Hon. Chief Guest.
The Hayakawa campus was beautifully decorated with traditional Koinobori and a Yoroi Kabuto Set, graciously lent by the Consulate-General of Japan in Chennai. These cultural decorations added an authentic Japanese festive atmosphere to the event and helped students experience the spirit and significance of Kodomo no Hi.
The Senryu Workshop was conducted by Shimizu Sensei and Anuja Sensei. They introduced students to the charm of Senryu and guided them to express their thoughts, emotions, and observations through this Japanese poetic form. The workshop encouraged students to think creatively while connecting with Japanese language and culture in a practical and enjoyable way.
As part of the event, the certificate and prize distribution ceremony for Hayakawa Illustration Contest 2026 was also held. Ms. Furuichi Reiko handed over the certificates and prizes to the winners, appreciating their creativity, effort, and artistic expression.
