We at Hayakawa are glad to inform you that we are going to conduct Haiku workshop & Contest. You can create your original Haiku and register for Haiku Competition.
Time: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Date: Sunday, 17th September, 2023
Venue: Hayakawa Japanese Language School & Cultural Center
Mode: Hybrid
Contents of Workshop:
1. What is Haiku? And Introduction about the ideas for creating Haiku
2. About Kigo (seasonally words)
3. Let’s try to create Haiku!
Lecturers: Ms. Anuja Sundar & Ms. Yuko Shimizu, Hayakawa Japanese Language School & Cultural Center, Chennai
Haiku - Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry that consists of three lines.
It makes just 17 letters and its pattern is 5-7-5 pattern.
Simple and mostly contain the seasonally word (Kigo).
Example: Meigetsu o totte kurero to naku ko ka na
Translated:
“Why not pull at that full moon?”
A little child is sobbing
Rules of Haiku:
1. 5-7-5 pattern
2. Use of seasonal word (Kigo)
