We at Hayakawa are happy to invite one and all to the first time ever online Setsubun celebration.
What is Setsubun?
Setsubun is the day that marks the end of winter in Japan and it is celebrated across the country with a lot of exciting activities. The name Setsubun literally means Seasonal Division. And on this auspicious day it is customary to celebrate by throwing Beans. This ritual is known as Mamemaki meaning Bean Scattering. It is believed that picking up these scattered beans and to eat them blesses the person with good health and fortune.
What you will prepare?
1. Origami paper
(if not available, any square piece of paper would do)
2. Pen and Scissors
NOTE: We advise you to use the peanuts with shells. As per the Japanese custom, we pick up the scattered beans and eat them. But, if not available, any types of beans will be fine.
You can divide some of the beans for throwing and the others for eating. Also, you can use some candy for kids. It will be fun!
We hope that this Setsubun turns out fortunate for us all.
Registration is must on or before 31st Jan 2021. Details regarding the online celebration will be sent to the participants the day before the event i.e. 01-02-2021.
